John Scanlon
Managing Director & Chartered Architectural Technologist, Building Engineer and Surveyor

At the heart of JS Design is John Scanlon, a Kerry Native and Chartered Architectural Technologist, Building Engineer and Surveyor. John brings almost two decades of experience in designing and managing exceptional residential & commercial builds across both the UK and Ireland.

With vast experience in both sectors and latterly working with the likes of Ashby Design and Archer Architects in London; John has come back to Ireland with a new focus and passion. Helping families and individuals in Munster and beyond to discover the true potential of their home and ensure this is brought to life in the most innovative and affordable way.

John is a creative and strategic thinker who works in close collaboration with his clients and carefully blends technical architecture with imagination to respond successfully to their brief or vision.
Michael Connolly
Civil & Structural Engineer

A new member to the JS Design team, Michael has a Bachelor of Engineer from the Institute of Technology Tralee (now Munster Technological University – Kerry) and is a longstanding affiliate of Engineers Ireland.
With over 21 years’ experience in both civil & structural engineering, surveying, and involvement in residential & commercial projects, from the design process through to completion.
Michael approaches the engineering aspects of all projects with a practical, economical, and where possible an environmentally friendly mindset, always engaging with clients on his thought process and the proposed design.
INDUSTRY ACCREDITATION
We are also a Chartered CIAT practice, which is the qualifying body for architectural technology.
I am a Chartered Architectural Technologist with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologist (CIAT). This qualification allows me to provide a full architectural design service and lead projects of all shapes and sizes from start to finish from new homes and hotels to shopping centres and football stadiums.
I’m a Chartered Building Engineer with the Association of Building Engineers (CABE). This qualifies me as a professional who designs, constructs evaluates and/or maintains buildings
Also, I’m registered with the Society of Chartered surveyors of Ireland (SCSI) as an Assigned Certifier under the new building regulations BC(A)R 2014 requirements.
